GTA 6 Release Date: Everything Actually Confirmed

Updated July 12, 2026 · Facts sourced from official Rockstar and Take-Two announcements. Rumors are labeled.

The internet is drowning in GTA 6 "leaks." This page is the opposite: only what Rockstar Games and Take-Two have actually confirmed, in one place, kept current. Bookmark it and you'll never have to wonder what's real again.

The date: November 19, 2026

Grand Theft Auto VI releases on Thursday, November 19, 2026. Rockstar confirmed the date in a Newswire post on November 6, 2025, and Take-Two reaffirmed it during its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings update on May 21, 2026. After earlier delays this date has held for months and pre-orders are already live against it.

Platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only

At launch GTA 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PC version at launch, and no last-gen (PS4/Xbox One) version at all. If Rockstar follows its own history (GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2), a PC port arrives somewhere between 7 and 19 months later, which points to late 2027 at the earliest. Rockstar has not announced any PC window.

Price

Two editions are confirmed: the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99. Everyone who pre-orders before November 20, 2026 gets the Vintage Vice City Pack free. Full breakdown in our editions comparison.

How pre-orders are going

In a word: chaos. The physical "code-in-a-box" version sold out on Amazon US in roughly an hour. PS5 pre-orders are reportedly outselling Xbox by around six to one, and retailers have started warning about console shortages heading into the holidays. If you plan to play day one and don't own a current-gen console yet, sooner beats later.

What's still rumor

Rumor watch (not confirmed): Trailer 3 timing (projections cluster around late July / early August 2026), a claim of up to six retail editions, and talk of a real physical disc release arriving after launch. None of this is official. Worth knowing: Rockstar reportedly feeds false details to its own staff to trace leaks, so treat every "insider" claim with suspicion.
